How do I change the MTU size for my Linksys RT31P2 or WRT54GP2 router?

Overview

Setting MTU settings to 1492 will assist in initial call connection as data is reduced to allow additional information to be picked up between caller and person receiving the call.

Step 1: Logging into the Linksys RT31P2 or WRT54GP2
  1. Enter the below URL address to any web browser http://192.168.15.1
  2. Enter the username: admin, and password: admin
Step 2: Changing the MTU
  1. Select the setup tab. Next select basic setup.
  2. Find MTU and enter 1492. You can lower the MTU in sections of 8. i.e:1484
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save Settings.
  4. Power down and power-up the router (reboot).
