How do I enable remote access for my Netgear modem / router?

Overview

Step 1: Login to the Netgear device
  1. Log in to the router via your web browser, with its default LAN address of http://192.168.0.1
  2. Enter the User Name of admin,  and default password of password, or using whatever User Name, Password and LAN address you have chosen for the router.
Step 2:  Turn Remote Management On
  1. From the Advanced section of the main menu, select the Remote Management
  2. Select the Turn Remote Management On check box.
  3. Specify what external addresses will be allowed to access the router’s remote management which is 59.167.198.139
  4. Specify the Port Number, use the default port on 8080
  5. Click Apply to have your changes take effect.



Step 3:  Provide your public IP address
  1. Go to www.packetman.com.au/kb/ip.php
  2. Send your IP address with your username and password to the helpdesk
