About Codecs

It depends which codec is selected which determines the amount of bandwidth used on your calls. G711a uses around 90kbps each way and G729 uses around 30kbps each way. Engin supports both codec 's and the default codec is g729a. This equates to about 13mb per hour for G729a and 40mb per hour for G711a.

Here is how to work it out if you desire a technical answer

MB per hour used = kbps *3600 (seconds in an hour) = kilobits per hour kilobits per hour/1024 (convert into megabits)=megabits per hour megabits per hour /8 (8 bits in a byte) = Megabytes (MB) per hour.

Summary
G711 = (90x3600) /1024 /8 = around 40MB per hour.
G729 = (30x3600) /1024 /8 = around 13MB per hour.
