Overview
Step 1: Login to your ZyXEL modem
- Type the router's IP address
in your browser address bar and hit the Enter key. The default IP is 192.168.1.1.
- You should receive a login prompt. If this is your first time logging into the Zyxel, the default password should be 1234.
Note: If the login screen doesn't appear, make sure the ethernet cable from your computer to the router is in place. If the ethernet cable is connected properly, restart your computer. If all else fails, reset the router by holding down the Reset button the back of the device for 10 seconds and then attempt to access the router again.
Step 2: Change your password
- If you logged in with the default password of 1234, the Zyxel will prompt you to change this password. It is recommended that you change this password for security purposes.
- Type the new password twice in the fields provided and hit Apply.
Step 3: Configuring connection options
- The Zyxel main menu should appear. You will click the Wizard Setup link.
- Make sure settings on the next page titled Wizard Setup - ISP
Parameters for Internet Access match those below and then click Next.
- Mode: Bridge
- Encapsulation: RFC 1483
- Multiplex: LLC
- Virtual Circuit ID: VPI: 8 VCI: 35
Step 4: Finalise connection details
- The next screen will show an overview of the settings you have chosen. Click Log on to the Internet.
- At this point, it will be necessary to connect your Home Networking router to the zyxel's LAN
port. With the Zyxel in Bridge mode, you must have another device in place that is configured for PPPoE
authentication.
