Installation overview showing the Engin  WRT54GP2 / RT31P2  plugged into a Motorola Cable Modem:

  1. Connect a phone (with existing phone cable) to the PHONE port 1 of your Engin WRT54GP2 / RT31P2
  2. Connect one end of the supplied ethernet cable to the one of the LAN port of your WRT54GP2 / RT31P2; connect the other end to a spare ETHERNET port (LAN port ) on your PC
  3. Connect one end of the included power adapter to the Engin WRT54GP2 / RT31P2 then connect the other end to an available power outlet.
  4. Connect an ethernet cable from the INTERNET port of your Engin WRT54GP2 / RT31P2 to the LAN port of your Cable Motorola Modem.
  5. Power on / off the cable modem (disconnect the power)
