Port Forwarding Setup

Sometimes with your VoIP service, you may encounter a problem when your calls drop out at 5:32, 10:32 etc This issue is related to the incoming INVITE on UDP port 5060 being dropped.  To fix the issue, you need to configure a port forwarding rule for UDP port 5060 to be forwarded to your PBX, ATA or voicebox.

To setup port forwarding, you will also need to configure a static IP address for your voicebox, ATA or PBX as your IP address will change if it's using a DHCP server.  You can completely bypass the firewall by placing your VoIP device in the DMZ.
  1. Set up a port-forwarding rule for UDP 5060 to be forwarded to your static IP address
  2. Set up a port-forwarding rule for UDP 16384 - 20384 to be forwarded to your static IP address
Some older implementations of firmware can also be responsible for call dropouts. Try disabling any SPI or DoS protection firewalls if enabling a DMZ does not fix the dropout issue.

My VoIP hardware will not register?

Same issue again. You will need to setup port forwarding on your NAT to enable the engin service to work.
  1. Set up a port-forwarding rule for UDP 5060 to be forwarded to your static IP address
  2. Set up a port-forwarding rule for UDP 16384 - 20384 to be forwarded to your static IP address
